Bridging the Gap

Is there is a gap between where God wants you and where you are currently? Maybe Relationally? Is it at your job or place of service to the Lord? Your Daily peace?

Consider Benjamin. He was the youngest child of Jacob and Rachael. Before she died, she named him Benoni (son of my pain). Jacob knew this was not the identity God wanted and so he renamed him Benjamin or son of honor. Benjamin was one of those individuals who had a name change which altered the course of his destiny.

The obvious answer is, gaps require change. In 1 Samuel 9 & 10, Samuel saw Saul and realized the Lord intended for Saul to be King. (That’s the man I told you about! He will rule my people.)

But Saul wasn’t ready, he needed a change to get where God wanted him! (Saul replied, “But I’m only from the tribe of Benjamin, the smallest tribe in Israel, and my family is the least important of all the families of that tribe! Why are you talking like this to me?” ‭‭1 Samuel‬ ‭9:17, 21‬)

Here’s the change: “At that time the Spirit of the Lord will come powerfully upon you, and you will prophesy with them. You will be changed into a different person. After these signs take place, do what must be done, for God is with you.” (‭‭1 Samuel‬ ‭10:6-7‬)

The Spirit came upon him (fascinating how that occurred- read chapters 9&10) and he started encouraging others! Saul was changed and ready to serve. It works! Let’s bridge the gap!

See ya Sunday
